Academic Shoot Reflection and Critique

1. What challenges did you encounter while trying to get the photos following the rules I set out for you?
It was challenging to get interesting photos with classes that weren't fine arts classes.

 2. What technical aspects of photography or the assignment in general did you find yourself thinking about the most? 
What I was thinking about the most was trying to get a background that wasn't drawing away from the subject. What I did to do this correctly was moving around the subject while trying to get a simple background and trying to get their face in the photo.

 3. If you could do the assignment again, what would you do differently now that you know some basic rules of photography?
I would try to get more diagonal lines instead of straight lines.

 4. What things would you do the same?
I would keep on trying to get simple backgrounds.

5. When you go out with your next set of prompts, which rule do you think will be the easiest to achieve?
The easiest rule to achieve would be balance because it's easy to get geometric shapes from where people are sitting or standing.

 6. Which rule do you think will be the hardest to capture?
The hardest rule to capture is lines since some classrooms don't have that many lines in them.

 7. What rule are you still not totally clear on and what can you do to figure out what that rule is? 
All the rules of photography that we covered in class are clear to me.

8. What are 2 positive things about their photos and 1 thing that could be improved on?

2 positive things about her photos were that they had a lot of one color, which I really liked, and that you could tell who the subject was in the photos. What could be improved on would be getting a simpler background on 2 of her photos.

          Alfred Stieglitz was a very skilled photographer that took photos in black and white. Stieglitz was born in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1864. He went to school in Germany for engineering in 1881 and went to Technische Hochschule in Berlin for photochemistry in 1882. When Stieglitz got back to New York in 1890, he got in a partnership with a photogravure company and took photos of streets.            He then went back to Europe in 1894 and joined a pictorialist society called The Linked Ring located in London. Eight years later, Stieglitz tries to tell the world that photography could show as much artistic expression as painting and sculpture. La Pedrera, Spain 1. Who is the architect? The architect is Antonio Gaudi. 2. When was it built? It was built in 1912. 3. Where is it located? It's located in Barcelona, Spain. 4. Is it a private building or can you visit it? You can visit the building. 5. Is there information on how much it cost to build? There's no information on how much it cost to build. 6. Is there a reason the building was created or the history of the building itself? The building was inspired by the Modernista movement. 7. Why did you pick this building?  I picked this building because I saw how the exterior was wavy and it drew my attention. I also liked how there were so many different floors to accommodate for different space. I thought it was interesting how the whole building was like a big piece of art. Abandoned Theme Parks

1. Which amusement park featured in the two articles would you like to visit and take your camera along and what about that park makes you want to go there? I would like to visit Land of Oz in Beech Mountain, North Carolina. It doesn't look so scary and since it's abandoned, there won't be people getting in your shots if you wanted to have a model to pose on the yellow brick road or going into a castle. Also, The Wizard of Oz movie turned into an amusement park is great. To see it abandoned would be terrifying but more realistic than having people walking everywhere, even in the forest. 2.
