Ethics In Fashion Photography

1. List the changes that were made to the model's face with Photoshop in the computer. (Look carefully)
They made here eyes and lips bigger, and they made her neck skinnier and longer.

2. List the changes that were made to the model's body with Photoshop in the computer. (Look carefully)
They made here legs longer and slimmer, they made her skinnier and made her but bigger, and they made her her lighter skin tone.

3. List the changes that were made to the model with Photoshop in the computer. (Look carefully)
It was a piece of pizza before and they turned it into a model. They made it slimmer, painted it to a regular skin tone, cropped it, and made the pepperoni into a bikini.

4. Is it ethically acceptable to change a person's appearance like these in a photo? Why or why not?
It's not ethically acceptable because the photo doesn't tell the truth about the situation.

5. Are there circumstances in which it would be more ethically wrong to do this type of manipulation?
In beauty mostly because you're giving the message to younger audiences that you should look a specific way instead of being comfortable with what you look like.

6. What types of changes are OK, and what aren't?
Changes that are ok is cropping people out of photos that aren't necessary. What isn't ok is photoshopping someone to make them pretty, ugly, or changing their skin tone.

7. Explain what you think the differences are between fashion photography and photojournalism.
The difference between photojournalism and fashion photography is that photojournalism helps tell a story of an event that took place, so it's more news related. Fashion photography has people posing instead of taking a photo in the moment and fashion photography is more beauty, makeup, and clothes related.

8. What relationship does each type of photography have to reality, and how does this affect the ethical practice of each?
The relationship between each type of photography and reality is that the photographer tries to send a message to people, whether it's about sports, beauty, culture, or disaster, they want you to get something out of it. This affects the ethical practice of each by photoshopping a picture to try to get their message across but they go to far and make it false.

9. Why do you think I am showing you these three videos?
To show that photographers photoshop a lot of stuff and they get carried away with it. Also, that you can't trust a lot of the photos you see.

10. Why are none of these videos about guys?

Guys aren't as self conscious about themselves as women are in today's society.
