Student Of The Month Story

The student of the month is a new tradition at Bowie High school. Where every month, one student gets recognized for their outstanding work in the classrooms. This month, Grace Johnson got chosen as student of the month by her teachers.

When Johnson found out she got student of the month, she was ecstatic and smiling the whole day.
“I couldn’t believe I was chosen. It’s so great that all my hard work paid off in the end,” Johnson said.
Johnson struggled with Algebra, but was able to pull through and get straight A’s in all her classes. She asked for help from her teachers whenever she needed help.
“I think it’s always a great thing when a student gets up the courage to ask for help,” says Biology teacher, Mr. Damman.
Johnson had to give up her free time to study every night and during the weekends. She also had to turn down requests to go places with her friends.
“I had to focus on my homework and studies. I had to put school before having fun,” Johnson said.
She also had to keep her grades up to be able to participate in the dance team at Bowie High School. She only needed to get B’s but wanted to push herself to get all A’s.
“I wanted to try and get more than B’s. I never thought I would be able to get A’s straight across all my subjects,” said Johnson.
Damman, a Biology teacher, was proud of how disciplined Johnson was with herself.
“It’s great that she set standards for herself and set up rules to help her achieve her goal. I like seeing my students do that,” said Mr. Damman.
We asked her how she was going to celebrate this accomplishment.

“I’ll probably go out with some friends during the weekend. I won’t stop studying how I was before though since now everyone has high expectations for me. I also have high expectations for myself now,” answered Johnson.

          Alfred Stieglitz was a very skilled photographer that took photos in black and white. Stieglitz was born in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1864. He went to school in Germany for engineering in 1881 and went to Technische Hochschule in Berlin for photochemistry in 1882. Abandoned Theme Parks

1. Which amusement park featured in the two articles would you like to visit and take your camera along and what about that park makes you want to go there? I would like to visit Land of Oz in Beech Mountain, North Carolina. It doesn't look so scary and since it's abandoned, there won't be people getting in your shots if you wanted to have a model to pose on the yellow brick road or going into a castle. Also, The Wizard of Oz movie turned into an amusement park is great. To see it abandoned would be terrifying but more realistic than having people walking everywhere, even in the forest. 2. Is it a private building or can you visit it? You can visit the building. 5. Is there information on how much it cost to build? There's no information on how much it cost to build. 6. Is there a reason the building was created or the history of the building itself? The building was inspired by the Modernista movement. 7.
